Wood veneer is my primary medium, but I also create in pen and ink and digital prints. My wood veneer pieces use a unique process influenced by the marquetry art of European furniture makers and Japanese wood block print artists.
I design these marquetry pieces on a tablet, and then carefully cut the designs on a scroll saw and exacto knife from very thin 1/42” dyed veneer wood. Not computer or laser cut. Next I put together the art like a puzzle. There’s lots of trimming, sanding and finish work to bring you these amazing beauties. Wood Inlay designs and prints include fanciful mushroom ladies, cardinals, hummingbirds, road runners, turtles, cats, buffalo, rabbits, butterflies, lizards, bees, horned toads, scissortails, Choctaw legends: Stickball Players, Deer Women, Corn Women and other fanciful creatures! Wood veneers include: Ash, Birch, Cerejeira, Cumara, Etimoe, Ecualyptus, Imbuya, Dyed Koto, Lacewood, Madrone, Nutmeg, Oad, Paldra, Sapale, Spruce, Sycamore, Walnut and Zircote. Some pieces from "Yes I Can Roger" show are still available!

I use the influences of such masters as Van Gogh, Escher and Matisse for the visual designs and convert my images into Wood Marquetry Inlay Art. As far back as I remember I have always been surrounded by music, art and wood. In my father’s shop I sorted, sanded and swept wood. I breathed in the essence of exploration and creativity and even a few shop cuss words! I learned to identify, cut, shape, finish and appreciate glorious wood. It is imprinted in my brain, this gift that my father passed on to me. I’m releasing gifts that have been almost overlooked, hidden, only to be revealed in my Wood Marquetry Inlay Art. I have created wood inlay designs from my original drawings ranging from “Mushroom Lady” to a rocking “Kicking Up Dust.” Come dream with me these
saw-dusted visions that do wind sprints in my brain!
